The Dean Group Story

Here at Dean Group, we have been providing investment casting services to a huge range of industries for over 40 years. We are a family-run business with a rich history – a history which has led to the Dean Group that you see today.

We started life back in 1972 as Manchester Investment Castings and have grown in size, expertise and potential since then. Our first factory was based in the town of Stretford where we made everything ourselves, from the wax injection machines to the fencing around the factory!

After spending 10 years in our Stretford-based factory, we embarked on a new adventure with a purpose-built factory in Irlam in 1982. At this factory, we continued to improve and develop our processes which led to a re-design of the shop floor in 1985 in order to maximise the efficiency of our manufacturing.

By the time the 90s arrived, technology was advancing at a rapid rate – something which resulted in the design and implementation of a bespoke Unix production, purchasing and estimating software system. We like to remain ahead of the curve, so although there was no software system available on the market at this time, we found the perfect solution.

Over the next few years, we saw the advancement and development of industry technology, launching us into the future as we began to work with modern casting techniques and brought more machinery onto the shop floor. This allowed for a more efficient means of manufacturing our high quality castings.

As we welcomed in the new millennium, we were looking to the future of Dean Group and how we could expand our manufacturing capabilities to keep up with the demand of high quality castings. In 2002 we introduced suppliers in China in order to manufacture even more quality castings for our clients

2005 brought disruption to Dean Group as lightening hit, nearly destroying all data. This led to the implementation of a bespoke MS Access database software which was designed specifically for production control, estimating and quality.

Just two years later, we said goodbye to the ‘Manchester Investment Castings’ name, and rebranded as Dean Group International as we continued to expand our capabilities. 2007 saw the addition of services such as precision grade investment casting, commercial grade investment casting and die casting.

Since 2007, we have continued to grow and expand, continually striving to provide the best in quality, value and durability. Over the past 40 years, we have seen many changes in the industry and, as a forward-thinking business, have stayed one step ahead of the curve.
